_Our Reason to Relay
_
My husband & I are putting together an “American Cancer Society” Relay For Life team in memory of his 19 year old daughter Kimberlee (and way too many other family members & friends), that passed away from Leukemia in Sept. 2010, leaving behind a then 8 1/2 month old daughter (that is a miracle in her own right).
Kimberlee was diagnosed with Leukemia in October 2009, when she was 5 months pregnant and the doctors wanted her to abort the baby, but she refused. She said she would rather die than to abort her daughter. She was sent to Stanford for treatments. She put off more aggressive treatments until she was far enough along for them to take the baby by c-section. Aleea was a fighter and she is now a precious, thriving 2 year old. Kimberlee was doing better at one point & they gave her a bone marrow transplant from her then 14 year old brother, but then shortly after the transplant the Leukemia returned with a vengeance. The Stanford doctors sent her home mid Sept. saying there was nothing else they could do. And on September 27th 2010 at 12:30am Kimberlee lost her battle with this ugly disease.
That is what put the desire in our hearts to put this team together to join the fight against cancer. We hope you will join with us to raise as much money as we can.
